Join the World Affairs Council and the Washington State China Relations Council (WSCRC) for a lunch discussion on October 27 with James Green, trade policy adviser to U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad. Green will be joined by Mercy Kuo, President of the WSCRC, for this timely discussion, which will be moderated by Jacqueline Miller, President and CEO of the World Affairs Council.

On the campaign trail, presidential candidate Donald Trump was deeply critical of Chinese economic and trade policies. As the U.S. President, Trump has tempered his criticism toward China after meeting with President Xi Jinping in April. Both leaders recognize that cooperation is necessary to manage regional security and economic challenges. Despite incremental progress on issue-specific cooperation, Washington has yet to develop a coherent China policy, while Beijing is rapidly projecting leadership in the Asia Pacific and on the international stage. What’s next for the U.S.-China relationship?
