Policy Briefing Series: China’s Uyghur Biodata Collection

Joining the WSCRC for this year’s third session of the Policy Briefing Series is Darren Byler, doctoral candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington. Darren studies emerging forms of art and politics among urban migrants in Chinese Central Asia (Xinjiang). He has published research articles in Contemporary Islam, Central Asian Survey and the Journal of Chinese Contemporary Art and contributed essays to volumes on Ethnography of Islam in China, Transnational Chinese Cinema and Travel and Representation, In addition, he has published Uyghur-English literary translations (with Mutellip Enwer) in Guernica and Paper Republic.
